The Sint-Janshospitaal will form the decor for a selection of remarkable Spanish art from the 17th century. In the monumental hospital wards, some 20 works of religious sculpture and painting, full of Spanish passion, will be on display. It is a rare opportunity to become acquainted with some less well-known aspects of Spain's Golden Century. The highlight of the exhibition, in addition to paintings by famous Spanish masters like Murillo and Zurbarán, is a group of five hyper-realistic sculptures by the greatest sculptor of the Spanish Baroque, Pedro de Mena. La maison de mode Matsuzakaya joue un rôle fondamental dans la production et la diffusion du kimono. Simple boutique fondée en 1611, fournisseur auprès de la noblesse japonaise un siècle plus tard, elle est transformée en grand magasin au début du XXe siècle, avant de confirmer son statut de centre de référence pour lart textile. Ainsi, au fil des siècles, la collection Matsuzakaya senrichit de pièces dexception kimonos taillés dans des étoffes luxueuses parées déblouissants motifs, mais aussi accessoires et mobilier qui témoignent du savoir-faire des artisans japonais. Elles donnent à voir lincroyable inventivité des créateurs qui renouvellent sans cesse ce vêtement traditionnel dont la forme reste immuablement celle dun T. Cest de cette spécificité formelle que les stylistes du XXe siècle, japonais et européens, semparent pour créer de tout nouveaux objets de mode. Paul Poiret, Madeleine Vionnet, Yves Saint Laurent, et après eux Kenzo Takada, Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Miyake, Jean Paul Gaultier, ou encore Junko Koshino déstructurent le kimono et en réinterprètent les motifs. De lépoque dEdo jusquau XXIe siècle, le kimono, module épuré à la géométrie parfaite, agit comme une toile vierge propice à limagination et à la narration.
